回收成為主要產業在所有發達國家是為了減少生態破壞和回收有價值的資源,城市垃圾管理策略包含收集可利用的材料像塑料包裝袋、廢紙、玻璃和電器元件除了家庭垃圾。在工業回收的工序中所有這些材料必須被處理而且被熱利用率或者重新利用循環,假設塑料回收,一個高純度材料需要一個成功的材料整理和加工處理。即使對于熱塑料垃圾的使用,比如含氯物質PVC必須被消除在材料中。關于回收的應用,NIR分類技術已經有多年的使用經驗,NIR技術可以識別不同的垃圾成分和獨特形式的材料顏色。為了每個原料領域的塑料回收,LLA設備有成熟的識別板塊,板塊可以擴展客戶對材料類型的需求,塑料鑒定板塊是可用于多元化的NIR光譜儀KUSTA1.9MPL和NIR成像相機KUSTA1.7MSI和KUSTA1.9MSI。
idHwaste模塊的應用原理上適用于識別和分選生活垃圾,這個模塊可使用NIR光譜儀KUSTA1.9MPL和NIR成像相機KUSTA1.7MSI和KUSTA1.9MSI,idHwaste模塊軟件可以識別所有的塑料被用于食品包裝袋和一些聚合物,甚至塑料復合材料比如有PVC箔標簽的PET瓶子被識別。在瓶子與瓶子之間的回收中能夠準確的除去PVC(僅需要KUSTA1.9MPL和KUSTA1.9MSI)。機KUSTA1.7MSI和KUSTA1.9MSI成像相機被更廣泛的應用于需要高空間分辨率和高幀數率。

idPET-Flakes(PET鱗片)模塊的分析軟件被用于除雜在瓶堆里回收PET瓶子。另外在所有普遍的生活塑料中,這模塊同樣可以分析雜質像PA或者硅膠。后者通常出現在瓶子的瓶蓋墊片。這個軟件模塊**選用高幀數率的KUSTA1.9MSI和在高敏感度下識別PET鱗片的特殊PVC雜質。在idPET-Flakes分選后,材料幾乎不會含有PVC。
